David and David hair salon, Plymouth
Commercial Interior Design
The client
Two talented and ambitious hair stylists wanting to set up their own salon.
Why they contacted us
We were recomended by a colleauge of ours that knew our work and thought we could deliver what they needed.
What they wanted to achieve
The clients envisaged a relaxed atmosphere with an industrial edge, a robust interior that could change over time.
What we did
We stripped the space back to white painted structural brickwork and concrete walls to create a raw though understated backdrop to the refined furniture elements and fittings.
The central element in the interior is the coloured 'floating' wall along the length of the room incorporating mirrors, display boxes and coat storage behind the reception. This architectural scale element unifies the separate elements and provides a visual continuity to the space. The frameless polished stainless steel mirror boxes on the opposite wall are highly refined but also have an industrial quality through their simplicity.
Our Involvement
Tandem provided a deatiled layout for the space and drawings for the builders to create the finished shell. Tandem designed manufactured and fitted all the main interior elements, including the floating wall, mirrors and reception desk.
