The project consisted of the interior design and fit out of a new hair salon in Mayflower Street, Plymouth. Tandem provided a complete service from space planning to the design, manufacture and fitting of the main interior elements. The clients envisaged a relaxed atmosphere with an industrial edge, a robust interior that could change over time. White painted structural brick work and concrete walls create a raw though understated backdrop to the refined furniture elements and fittings.

The central element in the interior is the coloured 'floating' wall along the length of the room incorporating mirrors, display boxes and coat storage behind the reception. This architectural scale element unifies the separate elements and provides a visual continuity to the space. The frameless polished stainless steel mirror boxes on the opposite wall are highly refined but also have an industrial quality through their simplicity.
